Homosexuality Essay Example for Free

Homosexuality Essay Homosexuality inside the congregation is a questionable issue that is taking steps to break separated the more than 20-exceptionally old establishment of the congregation. This paper decides to show that, Homosexuality inside the congregation and the general public is a questionable issue that is yet to be settled. With specific accentuation with the lessons of the Catholic convention on Homosexuality, the paper tries to break down how Homosexuality has for the whole history of the Catholic custom took steps to isolate the congregation. The paper likewise will take a perspective on Homosexuality in today’s society in an offer to investigate how current society sees on Homosexuality vary from the lessons of the congregation and the purposes for the church’s rather traditionalist way to deal with the Homosexuality issue. The Catholic church was established around second century when church and state were indistinguishable and the congregation yielded a lot of impact over state undertakings and administration. With specific reference to Roman domain, the Catholic church in Rome came to be amazing to the point that congregation law decided state’s laws and the papacy was answerable for the running of the congregation undertakings, yet in addition of the state issues. So much was the impact of the Catholic Church administration on state administration that, congregation pioneers were ground-breaking and loved in light of the fact that they could apply political and strict position. The issue of Homosexuality inside the Catholic Church isn't new and as right on time as the fifth century, there is proof to the way that, the issue had come up frequently in chapel principle and it had been talked about at the most significant level of the congregation. Homosexuality as indicated by the Catholic custom is insidious and not passable. In reality, the Catholic convention holds that the individuals who participate in Homosexuality ought to be banished from the congregation, a discipline that isn't revertible and once in a while does the congregation initiative offer crowd to those saw to be rebellious to the Catholic position on Homosexuality. As per Catholic custom, a relationship between a man and a man or between a lady and a lady is seen and subsequently, it is negation to the congregation lessons. Because of the position the congregation has kept up for quite a long time, the issue of Homosexuality in the congregation keeps on evoking passionate discussions and is as of now one of the most disputable issues in the Catholic Church particularly the Catholic Church in USA. Instead of revise the current church tenet, to reflect present day society, and especially the newly discovered opportunity among the young in America, the congregation keeps on making key changes to its one sided lessons, which keep on delineating the congregation as antiquated, obtuse and non-receptive to advancement. The quantity of youth going to chapel in the USA has been found to have declined by upto 30% in the previous not many decades. This is reflected by the way that, there are less Americans ready to take up administration positions in the congregation causing a significant lack of father, nuns, and so forth in the congregation. In spite of the fact that Homosexuality as an issue isn't exclusively to fault for the current deadlock, it is obviously a contributing element to the initiative emergency the congregation is confronting and the powerlessness of the congregation to draw in youngsters to take an interest in chapel authority. Their remiss proof and considerable examination in the reasons for the church’s moderate position, which inspite of being tested by researchers in the congregation and the faithfuls has remained unendingly courageous and keeps on keeping up the hard position it has taken for as far back as hundreds of years. In sharp difference to the position taken by the pastorate, there is developing proof that a gay culture is gradually picking up root among the ministry something, which is ending up being unselfish and one of the most recent embarrassment in the Catholic church . This has affected qualities that the congregation has kept on encouraging including family esteems that the congregation bases as its key contention against confirmation of Homosexuality inside the congregation. In spite of the fact that it is difficult to state without a doubt what number of Catholic church are associated with Homosexuality, passing by the quantity of the individuals who move into the open and rebelliously express their help of Homosexuality, obviously there are huge quantities of pastorate taking part in Homosexual works on, advancing Homosexuality just as straightforwardly or quietly pushing for Homosexuality . This has left the congregation administration in a quandary as it has gotten exceptionally hard for a shared conviction to be struck somewhere in the range of defenders and adversaries of Homosexuality in the congregation. What began as considerations to analyze how the congregation could react to Homosexuality and its developing impact even with sorted out gay gatherings, which began getting rights to marriage just as different rights, guarding from separation has put the Catholic church particularly in the USA at intersection. Because of the seething discussion, the media looked to concentrate consideration on the issue of Homosexuality and how the congregation was reacting to it prompting various reports blaming cardinals in the USA for taking part in Homosexuality. This has additionally been entangled by the way that at whatever point Homosexuality banter has come up, the issue of pedophilia has come up . This has additionally convoluted the Homosexual discussion in that it gives the Homosexual discussion a negative picture in the open given that pedophilia is a touchy issue impartial to wrongdoing. Homosexuality in the Catholic Church is mind boggling to the point that, the freedom given to cardinals has made it for all intents and purposes incomprehensible in any event, for survivors of Homosexuality executed by the pastorate to effectively wage grievances. For example, pastorate team up with their bosses to execute Homosexual conduct to little youngsters and rather than such ministry being rebuffed when the issue moves into the open, it is regularly the people in question and their families who endure most. Without a doubt, by and large, individuals from the congregation are bound to stop church in light of the fact that the main way out is to keep away from showdown with the congregation. This has additionally been convoluted by the way that, the congregation has been somewhat reluctant to recognize that Homosexuality is an issue inside the congregation something which implies that at whatever point such allegations are raised against the congregation initiative, the congregation is less willing or not dedicated to managing the issue of Homosexuality. By and large, the ‘offenders’ get light disciplines, for example, move and once in a while has any important discipline been alluded against ministry by the congregation. This detachment from the congregation administration has kept on corrupting the church’s picture particularly thinking about that there is a general absence of comprehension and valuation for Homosexuality among chapel faithfuls. That the Catholic Church customarily trusts Homosexuality is a transgression, is confirm by the consistent requests and calls for atonement the congregation conveys to self-admitted Homosexuals. In fact, there is an unmistakable contrast between Homosexuality as rehearsed in the congregation and Homosexuality as rehearsed in the general public. The issue is additionally confounded by the way that, conventional Catholic convictions don't permit individuals from ministry to wed or take part in sex take off alone Homosexuality. In this way, Homosexuality in the congregation circles is seen as administrative maltreatment and is treated in that capacity. There is sufficient proof towards the way that, the congregation is happy to battle on and thoroughly boycott Homosexuality in the congregation and particularly inside the ministry. In any case, the congregation is confronted with a difficulty in that, it doesn't bolster the idea of Homosexuality. All things considered, the congregation authority is in a condition of refusal, which tries to introduce the congregation as without Homosexuality and yet, needs to battle frequencies of Homosexuality if and when detailed. In spite of the fact that now and again those blamed for Homosexuality have been compelled to leave, such calls originate from the unwavering and will in general be grounded on dangers of charges and not as a logical inconsistency of customary lessons or church creed thinking about that the congregation is hesitant to recognize that even inside its pastorate the issue of Homosexuality is overflowing. Outside the US, protection from Homosexuality in the congregation is higher contrasted with US where now and again, a few archdioceses have the space to pick whether to work with Homosexuals or not. This is carrying another measurement into the Homosexuality banter concerning abstinence and a call for additional insightful understanding of chastity as comprehended in the Catholic Church . It isn't amazing that the issue of Homosexuality in the congregation has never been thoroughly managed in spite of the way that, Homosexuality in the congregation has been drilled since the 1970s upto present and clearly with the information on the congregation authority . Another measurement that the Homosexuality banter has taken in the congregation is addressing of how adequately Homosexual pastorate are fit for controlling the dependable. The way that Homosexuality is as yet considered by numerous Catholics as wrongdoing and infringement of their conventional convictions carries a quandary to the pastorate who are Homosexuals and is a typical reason for clashes. This has driven numerous to scrutinize the capacity of the individuals who abuse church lessons to lead the faithfuls who hold various perspectives on Homosexuality. For sure, this has achieved a moral measurement to the Homosexuality banter in the congregation. While the advocates of Homosexuality call for unwinding of conventional lessons on abstinence, adversaries of Homosexuality call for celibacy and maintaining of customary lessons on sexuality as passed on by ages . Clearly, Homosexuality in the congregation has begun to take another measurement, that of common freedoms and social equality. In such manner, there are the individuals who need to bring the human rights issue into the Homosexuality discussion and take a gander at the church’s position o

David Moore s On Nature Vs. Nurture - 1230 Words

Ryan Babakhani Anthropology 423 Christina Campbell October 9, 2017 David Moore’s Take on Nature vs. Nurture Traditionally, studies of various organisms have highlighted the importance of genetics as the main determinant of the traits and behaviors that characterize them. This goes back to the Darwinian Theory, which categorized beauty and glamour as results of â€Å"good† genes and the existence of evil and depression as consequences of â€Å"bad† genes. The idea that genes are the critical determining factor of traits and behaviors, and that environmental conditions have little to no effect on the development of these traits, prevailed for several decades within the scientific community. This misconception falls under the umbrella of the nature†¦show more content†¦Moore discusses several examples that weaken genetic determinism: the number of fingers and toes an individual is born with, for example, is has always been assumed to be strictly the result of one’s genetics. However, an alternative viewpoint is that without a healthy genome, or mutation-free genetic environment, an organism’s finger and toe count may vary. Although Moore’s argument does not take away from the significance of studying genetics, it makes a strong cas e for the idea that genes and environment must be considered in conjunction during the analysis of traits and behaviors. Moore offers a great analogy for this pairing, stating that both the wheels and the chain of a bicycle are necessary in order for it to function properly. Nature and nurture are the wheels and the chain of trait-development. Furthermore, diseases that were previously categorized as genetic, and even some that were believed to be caused by a single gene, have been assessed for potential environmental causes that go beyond genetics. In fact, as Moore quoted in his book, the Centers for Disease Control’s panel stated that â€Å"As we acquire more knowledge about the molecular basis of genetic disease, it becomes increasingly clear that variable expressivity (i.e. modification of a genetic trait by other genes or the environment) is the rule rather than the exception† (pp. 23). Myne Owne Ground Essay Example For Students

Myne Owne Ground Essay The Chesapeake area in the seventeenth century was a unique community that was almost absent of racism. In this community, at this time, property was the central and primary definition of ones place in society. The color of ones skin was not a fundamental factor in being a well respected and valued member of the community. Virginias Eastern Shore represented a very small fellowship of people that were not typical of the Southern ideals during this time period and gave free blacks owning property a great deal of respect and merit usually equal to that of any white man around. Racism, as a generalization, was a common and mostly unified way of thinking in the Southern states for a very long time and was in its prime during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The first importation of slaves into Virginia was in late August of 1619 and was only briefly recorded by one colonist, John Rolfe. He recorded them as 20. and odd Negroes and from this the black population slowly grew to about three hundred by the mid-century. One must understand that the attitudes towards the blacks that came to Virginia were not inevitable. This is a very important point to note when understanding how the free blacks came to be they way they were in Northampton, Virginia. It is not specifically known how Anthony Johnson came to own his modest estate or how he ended up in Northampton. Historians believe that his former master, Rirchard Bennett, may have been involved with Johnsons move to Northampton because of his connections with the Scarborough family, a very dominant family in Northampton at the time. Also, as governor, Bennett may have helped to look after the Johnsons legal and economic interests as well. By acquiring his estate, it enabled Johnson to have a constant source of income and therefore help the local community with its economy similarly. This relationship between he and the community came to help him when later his estate nearly burned down entirely. The court of Northampton treated him very well in helping them get through the disaster. He was treated just as any white man in Johnsons position would have been. This example alone shows how merely owning property and giving back to the local community was a priority in establishing res pect among people of the Northampton area; his skin color did not matter. Another free black, Philip Mongum, was given usually respectable treatment for a crime of adultery with a white woman, Margery Tyer. Mongum was lucky enough to have been sold his freedom and managed to become a relatively prosperous farmer. He also leased a 300-acre plantation with two white men in 1678 and later in 1680 acquired more land, 200-acres, on his own. Needless to say this give him a very high level of respect and standing among the local people. When the issue of the affair was discovered Northampton appeared more concerned with the Sin of Adultry than having any concern that he was black. Mongum received a large fine and was told to keep out of the company of Tyer. Interestingly Tyer was not treated so well, she was given four lashes and warned that additional lashes would be given if she was found in Mongums company again. Though this was not a very severe punishment, it was certainly much more than Mongum had received. Again, the county of Northampton was not concerned with the race of the individuals, but with the crime itself. Though there were very oppressive situations among the Southern states for enslaved blacks and indentured servants during Anthony Johnsons time, Northampton presented a highly unusual set of circumstances for the seventeenth century. During this time blacks were being shipped from Africa under the most horrific and unimaginable conditions and treated truly as three-fifths of a person, if that, being left to die because people thought it was more economically sound to do so, easily replacing the deceased. Blacks such as Johnson and Mongum were more than lucky to be living in the county of Northampton where there are numerous stories of how in times of criminal activity or even unfortunate circumstances that these free blacks were treated equally and often better than some whites because of their ownership and contribution to the Northampton community. .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d , .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .postImageUrl , .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d , .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:hover , .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:visited , .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:active { border:0!important; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:active , .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u38c6d72a1453120b73799e463da9973d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Homeless Voting EssayOne last point that this all demonstrates is that the outcome of much of the black community in America was not predestined and could have been avoided. The people of Northampton have shown that the ideas by which people treated blacks, and unfortunately sometimes still do, did not have to turn out the way it did. The color of ones skin had and has not thing to do with a persons capability and should not define how one is to be treated. Though much of Johnsons experiences were often due to luck, he also proved that one does not have to always succumb to a societys apprehensions towards certain issues and can create his own success by any means necessar y.

The weakness of agile method Essay Please ensure your essay is spelling and grammar checked before submission. Essays that do not meet minimum quality requirements will not be marked. As a general guideline, correcting the errors identified by the Microsoft word spelling and grammar checking functions should be sufficient to meet minimum quality requirements. The weakness of agile method Introduction Software development is a complicated process to deliver products in more rapidly, enhanced and cheaper ways. Agile method as a new mythology can fit this goals very well, it can defeat the rapid change in organization and business which the traditional methods is hard to handle. The core of agile methodologies is people. Customer and each team member in agile development teams are the key success or failure factor in agile process. Due to this nature of the agile method, there are several problems may happen in the agile software development process. In this article, several weakness of agile method will be identified and discussed with the examples, and these weaknesses will be divided Into three groups to analysis, they are People, flexibility and structure. For the people group, some problem caused by Active user Involvement and close collaboration are required throughout the placement to ensure the agile development process operate successfully ,however can be a big problem in agile development. For the flexibility group, due to the flexibility of the agile method, the requirement are always changed that will lead to the unwilling to implement the design, ever-lasting project, scope creep. For the structure group, the less detail of the requirement may lead to the misunderstanding which will caused delays in deliverables, the testing is integrated throughout the lifestyle which can caused much more money, the constraint that the team members would in same location can be the disadvantages in agile method. People Active user involvement and close collaboration The core of agile methodologies is people, customer and each team member in agile development teams are the key success or failure factor in agile process. Active user involvement and close collaboration are required throughout the development cycle. However, in the real life there are some many reasons will prevent the user to take their time and big commitment to involve in the agile development. From the results of the Dry research of the obstacles in agile software development teams. Not all the Agile teams are made by the experienced team members, the length of the experience are various between each team members. And that will caused lack of commitment to a decision in the agile development process. In some team, nobody was willing to make a decision and resolution was left to the Scrum Master. Because when they face a unfamiliar situation, especially the complex situation, they dont have sufficient expertise to make a right decision, they afraid to make a wrong decision and they dont how to solve this problem correctly. And sometime they are too many decision to choice, its hard for a inexperienced member to decide which one is better. (Dry, 2012) When the agile process coming to the iteration retrospective, one of the member noted The same issues kept coming up iteration after iteration. The problems were not going away. We made a bunch of decisions at the end of the iteration but nobody followed through in the Softies case in the Drugs research. Because less experienced team members naturally have less certainty about their decisions and this can lead to a lack of ownership and accountability for their decisions. Nobody felt they owned the decision, and everyone just focused on delivering the committed content after retrospective, no body followed the decision they made in retrospective. And for the Scrum master in this case, he said, I Just didnt have time to think about it. I felt under pressure to deliver on our user stories and didnt have time to go back and look at what we talked about during the Retrospective. Therefore, the experienced members will also not attention to the agile process under the complex situation (Dry, 2012). The term of agile in scrum refer that owner think, it is difficult for development team to have an holistic view in product and desires status (Sahara, 2012). Agile method is very demanding on the user representatives time and requires a big commitment for the duration of the project. This can be a weakness of agile method. Flexibility One of the biggest benefits of using agile is that the requirement can be accepted and changed any time throughout the development which provides much more flexibility. Requirements changed all the times The flexibility of agile method can ensure the project are delivery the right product, ay be happen if the requirement are never stop and essential, and it may create the risk of ever-lasting project. And in the Largess case study of Drugs research, one of the projects had 22 new user stories, each of which had changed at least twice during the 2 days, it subsequently caused havoc, fear, panic and resentment on these projects within 2 days of it being introduced (Dry, 2012). Agile method can handle changes, but how to handle the problem caused by change is a question. Less predictability Due to the flexibility feature of the agile method, the project can be start with less accessory information because it can be improvement in future iteration. That cause a situation that the developer doesnt know what the project is actually going to deliver to the customer at the start of the project and during. It makes it harder to define a business case for the project, and harder to define how much money will be cost in a particular project. Furthermore, in the iteration of the project development, the lack of design or some long-term view make it easy to take wrong solutions or wrong small scale design that afterward need to be redone. Requirements changed all the times and less predictability can be a weakness in the agile method, without the maturity of a strong and clear understand what the project is going to delivery, and the discipline of fixed timetable and project scope, these two weakness can be dangerous to the project development. Structure Agile software development is a group of software development methods based on iterative and incremental development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross-functional teams. (wisped). According to that definition, we can identify that agile is an incremental placement ,the requirements and solutions will be developed through the team collaboration. In this part, I will talk three potential issues may occur in each features. Misunderstand of the requirement Agile requirements are barely sufficient which mean that the wasted effort on deliverables that dont last in the final product will be eliminates; it will saves time and money. However the requirements are always clarified Just in time for development and can be documented in much less detail due to the timeliness of conversations. Therefore, it is harder for the new starters in team to understand hat they should to do, especially for the team members who are not good at team work and communications and are used to everything being defined up front. Due to that reason the misunderstanding may occur and misunderstanding will expand after several iterations. It may cause the delays in deliverables Agile testing In agile method, testing is integrated throughout the lifestyle of the iteration. This helps to ensure quality of the project and prevent the lengthy and unpredictable test phase at the end of the project. However, testers are needed throughout the project which will increase the cost of the project. Furthermore, several problems may also happen in the testing. For example, it is difficult to keep everyone on the same page. Information changed so fast in agile method, everyone is support to be fully understand the day-to-day-progress, and teams have to find a suitable way to share this information that works for them, this information include who is allocated to what and what development and testing tasks are in progress. Borderland,2012) The core of agile method is people, and the team collaboration is extremely important to the agile development. To ensure a good communication and collaboration environment, it is necessary to have all team members in the same location. The highly collaborative mode required for agile method is not compatible with distributed locations which may cause issue in some contexts to involve the right resources. For example, the time different may cause the necessary resource cannot be delivered on time. How to manage these weaknesses There are some many uncertainties in the agile method, it is hard to prevent all the risk at one time. But there are some advice can be referred to help agile team avoid unnecessary mistake. First for the problem occur in the people group, used some incentives to stimulate the members to speak out there opinion, doing some training for the inexperienced members and hold some games or travel if possible to promote the communication between different members. For the problem occurred in flexibility groups, sometimes choice the other method to develop a product is much more efficient than agile method, and when the situation fixed the agile method, it can come back and development in agile method. And it is better to hold a brainstorm meeting at the beginning when the deliverable are not clearly ,and the agile manager should take a role to guide the team when the problem cannot be solve by team. For the structure groups, if it is possible to slow down the iteration can be a good choice to let all the team members to follow the progress and understand what they are doing and what they need to do. Setting an automate testing and use pair testing to reduce the cost of testing. And for the location constraint, using the telecommunication tools to maintain the communication, optimizing team size and team mix, understanding the culture and time different will be helpful to work in different location by using agile. Conclusion Agile method is adopt by more and more companies to develop their product, Despite the benefit of using agile method, there are several weaknesses of agile method.

The bargaining power of the suppliers is also low because they are always striving to release these products while they ar e still fresh. They would try to avoid situation where they stay with the products for long because they can go at serious loss. The threat of substitutes in this industry is extremely low. It is not easy for the customers to find a perfect replacement for these products. This makes retail grocery industry very attractive. Whole Foods is one of the leading firms in this industry. In the internal environment, the financial position of a firm heavily affects its operations. A firm must understand its sales and the net income. The figure below shows the sales and net income of Whole Foods. The figure above shows the sales made by this firm and the net income from the year 2005 to 2010. From the figures above, it is clear that this firm has been experiencing a steady increase in sales over t he years. Although the net income was a little unsteady, especially in 2008 and 2009, it started rising again in 2010. The slow rate of income in 2008 and 2009 can be attributed to the 2008/2009 economic recession in the country. Based on the above findings, the main recommendation that the management should consider taking seriously is the need to increase its sales volume by going beyond its current market. The management should consider moving to other European markets besides United Kingdom. China and India can also make very attractive market for this firm given the huge population they have. This will help in increasing their net income.

Cholestral Panel Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Cholestral Panel - Assignment Example Lipoproteins are, however, of two different types that are the low-density lipoproteins abbreviated as LDL and the high-density lipoproteins (HDL). These two lipoproteins together with a fifth of the triglyceride level make up the total cholesterol in the body that is determined by conducting a blood test (Fernandez, 2012). The low-density lipoproteins are considered as a bad type of cholesterol as it contributes to plaque formation that is a thick hard deposit that clogs the arteries making them less flexible. The medical condition is referred to as atherosclerosis that can result in a stroke or a heart attack. If blockage takes place in an artery, that supply’s the legs, peripheral artery disease results. Thus, LDL levels needs to be low and they are controlled by avoiding foods that are highly saturated in fat, dietary cholesterol and excess calories, increasing exercise levels as well as maintain a healthy weight (Steinberg & Witztum, 2010). On the other hand, the high-density lipoproteins are considered as good cholesterol as it helps LDL removal especially from the arteries and back to the liver. Thus, it acts as a scavenger as it protects against stroke or a heart occurrence that the LDL levels increase (Sala, Catapano, & Norata, 2012). The levels of HDL in the body should always be high as possible and this can be achieved by avoiding saturated fat foods, decreasing the body weight among the obese and regular exercising for at least 20 minutes in three times every week. Triglycerides are another fat type in the body used in the storage of excess energy from the diet. Increased levels of triglycerides in the body is associated with increased risk or atheroma formation and is often as a result obesity and overweight, cigarette smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol, physical inactivity and intake of food high in carbohydrates. The Jeremy Kyle Show Essay Example for Free

The Jeremy Kyle Show Essay An odd looking couple, both of whom look as though they could have stepped straight out of the set of Little Britain, sit on an open stage while a bunch of adults; sit gawping at them as if they were animals in the zoo. The couple who are so wrapped up in an argument that has been supposedly been going on for 2 years, hardly notice the way that Jeremy Kyle himself is finding it hard to restrain himself from screaming at them to force them to listen. His facial expression tells of the way he is willing the couple to grow up and stop acting like spoilt children. Security guards hide in the wings, ready and waiting to jump in at any moment when the arguing gets out of hand, something that they are used to doing on a daily basis. The audience boo as the male half of the couple begins to share his side of the story, whilst the woman sits, holding a tissue to her eyes. Jeremy steps in front of the couple and orders them to be quiet, before beginning his long, rambling speech about how the couple should be ashamed of themselves for the way that they are acting. This may sound like some kind of outrageous scene from a television soap, but in actual fact it is an everyday occurrence on a chat show shown daily on ITV. Said to be a way to help resolve family feuds and ridiculous problems, The Jeremy Kyle show can only be described as a place for people to hang their dirty washing out to dry. Some of the stories featured include things as ludicrous as Confess youre a cheat or Ill prove Im the father of your eldest daughter and Can you prove your sons my brother? This is just a couple of the mad stories that become part of the programme. Some are so unbelievable youd think that they had been made up, just for entertainment. The real horror of it is that the worst of it all doesnt come from the guests, but from Jeremy himself. His snide comments and the way that he reacts to the different people he meets is awful. He encourages the audience to boo or cheer at people, which surely isnt going to help his problemed guests. The so called advice that he gives usually causes more harm than good and is often the centre of many arguments. Always through his stern, practiced words, there was the glint in his eyes that gave away that this was TV gold and he knew it. Theres no way that this man set out to actually help the people who feature on his programme, more likely that he was out for the money. The way that the show is so obviously rehearsed beforehand doesnt stop the hundreds of people desperate for five minutes of fame from becoming part of this sham. People seem to become drawn into this circus and become fixated on becoming part of it. Jeremy himself advertises getting onto the programme by filling peoples heads with different scenarios, all as insane as each other, that the audience may have found themselves in, that they may want to use as a way to take part in the show. Jeremy sits, cross legged whilst reading out lists of problems looks relaxed and confident in front of the camera, obviously used to being in that kind of situation. His sophisticated manner also lulls people into a false sense of security, thinking that going on this programmes really will help them to work out their ludicrous problems. Do people seriously believe and take notice of the rubbish that comes out of this mans mouth?! The answer is yes, people do. Quite why, is unknown but they do. They seem to think that this man actually knows what hes talking about and that the advice he gives is actually worth listening to. The way some people carry on about this programme would have you thinking that it was a quality and useful thing to watch! A gathering of bored and easily lead people who take part in it the show or opt to be in the audience are gathered from different areas in the UK all with different opinions to add to what is going on. The way that the programme is advertised is deceptive, therefore some people must be lulled into a false impression that it could help them, when in actual fact it will most likely cause more harm than good. Overall, all that can be said for the Jeremy Kyle Show is that it is a huge deception. Said to solve any type of family problem, it actually fuels family feuds rather than resolves them. When are people actually going to learn that to sort out their life, applying to a television programme like this really isnt going to help?

Charlotte Smiths On Being Cautioned against Walking on an Headland Ove

Charlotte Smith's "On Being Cautioned against Walking on an Headland Overlooking the Sea, Because it was Frequented by a Lunatic" â€Å"On Being Cautioned against Walking on an Headland Overlooking the Sea, Because it was Frequented by a Lunatic,† Charlotte Smith’s sonnet, comments on the poet’s feelings toward this lunatic and the thought process he instigates in her mind. By using different syntax to describe her two characters, Smith draws the attention of the reader to the message in the sonnet instead of the scene on the surface. The structure of the English sonnet also lends to the poem’s power, giving Smith a perfect avenue to deliver her message. The poem begins by describing the lunatic as a man with very animal tendencies, â€Å"with starting pace† and â€Å"with wide and hollow eyes† (lines 2-3) These characteristics alone give the reader a vivid image of how this man acts, and immediately sets low expectations for his character in a social and intellectual sense. His primitivism shows as â€Å"his cold bed upon the mountain turf† (6) is mentioned, furthering the image of a wildly sav...

Counseling Interview Paper

Counselor Interview PaperJessica Peacock I plan on going into the School Counseling field, so for my interview I went to a long time family friend Kay Weems. Kay is a school counselor currently at Madison Station Elementary, but she has 19 years of experience at different levels of education in counseling and in different environments as well. She also was an elementary teacher for 10 years prior to becoming a school counselor. Kay went to school at Mississippi State and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in special education. She went on to obtain her masters degree in special education. After school she taught at the elementary level for ten years so she has plenty of experience with children ages 5-11. When she had her only daughter Aubrey, she decided to get her master’s certificate for guidance counseling and then went back to work as a guidance counselor. This year is her first year counseling at the elementary level, but previous yea rs she did high school two years and middle school 16 years in several different environments. When I asked Kay’s perspective on the purpose of the school counseling profession she said that she feels as though she makes an impact on children’s lives every day.Her goal is to help children achieve academic, personal, as well as social success in the school environment. She provides individual counseling to students, as well as referrals for students to community support or for students that may need additional help in the classroom or academic testing. When I asked her about the demands of her job, she took a second to think about it, I imagine situations running through her head when she struggled with a child or a child’s family. She admitted that working with a child’s parent can be very difficult. She explained parent’s often times want to believe their child is perfect and perfectly happy, so when a counselor has to sit down parents and inform t hem something is wrong with their child many times the response from parents isn’t pleasant. Another struggle was dealing with abused children; she described that as â€Å"gut-wrenching†. Often times it is hard for her to leave stuff like that at work. She said that the best way to cope with those situations is to know that no matter what, every single day you have done your very best to get that child out of the bad situation that they are in.Before I interviewed Kay, I asked her about working with culturally diverse, and/or underrepresented children and she said that in her 19 years of counseling she has worked an abundance of both of these groups. She said that each time you work with a child of a culture that you are not extremely familiar with, you often times learn something new. It is a learning process she said. But when I mentioned underrepresented children she started to tell me about a group of kids that had experienced a very tragic trauma before them. She t old me of a Friday she found out she would be sent to Pearl High School on the next Monday to counsel to kids the next school day after the first school shooting in America. She explained that she had no idea what to tell these children, or how to answer there question, â€Å"Will the killer show up again at school with a gun? † These children had lost their friends and peers right before their eyes. She did her best and learned a lot about counseling children who have experienced extreme trauma. She made an effort to revisit these children that had been affected through a year period and counsel them. She said often times when situations like this happen, the children that witnessed these murders of their friends in their own school get left without the proper help they need. When I asked Kay about ethics in her job, she said it really comes down to having the best interest of the students at all time. It is important to know your job description and be able to explain it to parents as well as to a child that may not understand in adult language what you do.Always, let your students know limitations up front as well as the counselor-student relationship. We talked about the staff structure, but Kay, like most school counselors, is the only one at her school. She works close with teachers, office staff, and the school nurse as well. She said she personally likes being the only counselor in her setting. I do know that at many high schools in the regional area there are as many as four school counselors in one school. I asked Kay about her knowledge of current global issues, and she only mentioned cyber bullying. She said that there are so many problems with kids being bullied over the internet out of school and it is causing problems inside the school. She said that this has definitely become more prominent in the past five years and fears how much worse it can get. She didn’t mention any global issues other than that though. Kay has improved many m ore lives than she has told me about but what she has told me has amazed me. She has a love for helping children and that is such a gift. When I look at the profession I think that the rewards outweigh the struggles and I am excited to see what this career path has for me in life. I have always wanted to work in the school district just as my mom does. While talking with Kay I could easily see the passion she had for this career, it seems as though she wakes up liking to go to work unlike many people in the world today. I have learned a lot talking to her and would be interested in sitting in with her one day while she does her daily work as a school counselor.

Human Selfishness and Ignorance Portrayed in Gabriel...

In the story Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel Garcia Marquez portrays how the bystander effect impacts the people around Santiago Nasar to act submissively revealing how people do not want to help others in difficult situations, unless it directly affects them. Marquez informs readers how individuals only see the different ways for personal gain, thereby not having â€Å"time† to help others in need. As Santiago Nasar nears his death, many of those who are informed of it do nothing to save his life, as they all rely on others to help rather than taking matters into their own hands and stepping up. Ignorance by specific townspeople, like Angela Vicario, Lazaro Aponte, Clotilde Armenta, and even a friend, Cristo Bedoya. Each person’s†¦show more content†¦The fact that she gave a death sentence to an innocent man proves just how selfish people are in the world. People do anything to get by in the world without ever causing shame to them. Though in Angelaâ₠¬â„¢s case, the shame was already brought when she let the man who truly took her virginity sway her into bed. The readers can safely assume that she was not raped or pressured into having sex, because she would not have any reason in trying to protect the man who ruined her innocence’s image. Angela herself decided that in saying the name of a random man would result better for her than in telling the truth. Even after 23 years, Angela Vicario â€Å"was protecting someone who really loved her and she had chosen Santiago Nasar’s name because she thought her brothers would never dare go up against him† (90). Though she thought her brothers would not do anything drastic for their family name, like killing Nasar, she easily saw where it was all leading to, yet she claimed unawareness to the future fate of an innocent man.
